Set up in April 2008, The Dog House was a career and life change for owner Sonia Chivers.
" Although I grew up in the countryside surrounded by animals and working Springer Spaniels, I spent a large part of my career commuting to London to work as a Civil Servant.
With a continuing desire and need to be back around dogs, I decided to quit the bright city lights and retrain. I successfully qualified in City and Guilds dog grooming at the Canine Design Academy and set about looking for premises. Oh and ofcourse I finally got my dog!! "
Merlot, a Golden Retriever, was born on 16th October 2007 and is resident at The Dog House. He always gives everyone a warm welcome.
So any regrets ? " Only that I wish I had done this years ago. Its a vocation not a job and one which I absolutly love."
Big Move
On 31st August 2010, The Dog House closed at Shedfield Equestrian and re opened in a much bigger premises at Pinkmead Farm.
"Its a really exciting move as we now have more space and can offer customers more in the way of accessories including discounted dog food, equestrian products, Horse rug cleaning, Second hand saddlery. There is also room for my partners business SC Blades to be able to operate."
